In this manuscript we analyzed when and how the typical features of the quiescent center of the root apical meristem get established as lateral root develop.
Interestingly these are added sequentially. This work supports a model in which the QC emerges from the establishment of two opposing growth axis rather than a driver of their formation. Great work from our PhD student Beatrice.
