New results! A fresh volumetric look on lateral root initiation.
We digitized growing LR using PlantSeg analyse how volume partition during divisions. We find that cells integrate growth and division to precisely partition their volume upon division.
In particular we find:
- differences exist between the mother cells of anticlinal and periclinal divisions
- the periclinal divisions marking the transition to stage II are themselves asymmetric
- consecutive rounds of anticlinal, although of seemingly different 2D geometry have similar volume. Cell growth compensates
- periclinal divisions are preceded by rapid cell growth.
