Our protocol for sensitive detection of small RNAs by whole mount in Arabidopsis thaliana is. Nice signals, fast protocol, no embedding/sectioning involved. Thanks to M. Nodine (GMI, Vienna) for showing its applicability to embryos!

EMBO Course on Plant live Imaging
In light of the success of the first edition, the EMBO Practical course on Live Imaging of Plants will take place again in 2016.
You can register here: http://www.embl.de/training/events/2016/PLA16-01/
We are looking for a postdoc!
The lab is looking for a highly motivated Postdoc to study the morphogenesis of lateral organs in Arabidopsis thaliana using light sheet microscopy.
See this page for more informations.
Morphological Plant Models
Alexis will be travelling to the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) in Knoxville (TN, USA) to learn about the current challenges to analyze, model, and describe plants from the cell to the organ level and identify mathematical challenges in plant science applications. The workshop is organized by Dan Chitwood and Alexander Bucksch and will be livestreamed. A tweeter feed is also available (#PlantMath15). Really looking forward to this!
Msc thesis defense
Patrick von Born successfully defended his Msc thesis. Congratulation Patrick! Keep up with the good science during your PhD at the MPI for Plant Breeding in Cologne.
FASEB Science Research Conference on Mechanisms in Plant development
Alexis will be in Vermont August 3rd-7th to represent the lab at the FASEB SRC (http://www.faseb.org/SRC-Plant/Home.aspx).
School children to discover Science
The children observed flies, plants and fishes. They mixed and unmixed colors and even extracted DNA from tomato!
Their visit was a real success. The children, the teachers and the COS members were thrilled by the event.
This event built upon a teaching concept developed by Yohanns Bellaïche (Institut Curie, France) and curated by the Cercle FSER.
A huge thanks goes to: Lotte Bald, Emmanuel Gaquerel, Zheni Li, Amaya Vilches-Barro, Anne-Laure Duchemin, Steffen Lemke, Slava Panfilov, Béatrice Berthet, Virginie Jouannet and Christoph Neef for making this event possible.

New lab member: Béatrice Berthet
On july 1st, Béatrice Berthet started her PhD in the lab. Béatrice did her undergraduate studies in Grenoble (France). Welcome!
ICAR2015 in Paris
Our recently graduated Mouli will be travelling to Paris next week to present her results at the 26th International Conference on Arabidopsis Research.
Congratulations Mouli!
Mouli successfully defended today her thesis “Identification and characterisation of MIR390 regulators in Arabidopsis thaliana root development”. Congratulations Dr. Ghosh-Dastidar!
